Parish Field Play Area
Published: 11 March 2026
The proposals from the three preferred suppliers can be located on the news page of the Council website. The names of the suppliers have been redacted due to commercial sensitivity.
Supplier 1 has included the four pieces of equipment being gifted by East Devon District Council (EDDC) in the layout map.
Supplier 2 has included one of the EDDC pieces of equipment, locating it with the play equipment suitable for children under 5
Supplier 3 has not included the EDDC equipment in the proposal.
The play area will be to the left of the Pump Track (replacing what is currently there). Depending on the proposal selected, the play area may be expended to the left of the existing play area (meaning that the grass BMX mounds may have to be flattened to accommodate the zipwire and climbing net).
Also funding has been given to the Council from WACY but it has to be spent on putting a goal mouth in the Parish Field. Consideration is being given as to whether this would be located to the right of the Pump Track or to the left of the expanded Play Area (i.e. at the top of the Parish Field).
We have taken into consideration the comments from local residents regarding the refurbished Slewton Crescent not catering enough for under 5's so we have asked the three preferred suppliers to add more equipment for younger children.
The Parish Council welcomes your views. A couple of councillors and the Clerk will be at the Victory Hall from 6.30pm on Monday 16 March so that members of the public can come along and look at the proposals before the meeting starts at 7pm. Alternatively please email your views to clerk@whimpleparishcouncil.gov.uk
