Meetings, Agendas & Minutes

Council Meetings
Full Council meetings take place in Whimple Victory Hall, starting at 7pm, usually on the third Monday of every month except August. However, sometimes this can change due to Bank Holidays or Councillor availability.

Extraordinary meetings of the Council are called on the first Monday of the month, when necessary, to consider any planning applications that have come forward from the Local Planning Authority and any other matters that can't wait to the next Full Council meeting.  The meetings take place at Whimple Victory Hall, starting at 7pm. However sometimes this may change due to Bank Holidays and Councillor availability.

Public Participation

Members of the public are encouraged to attend Council meetings to raise issues in person for a maximum of 10 minutes. Councillors may ask questions for clarification but will not enter into a discussion or respond to the issues raised at the same meeting. Should it be felt necessary Councillors will schedule an agenda item for a future meeting to address the topic.

If there is a topic you would liked discussed at a Parish Council Meeting please email the Clerk at clerk@whimpleparishcouncil.gov.uk and request for it to be added to the next Parish Council Meeting's Agenda.

Annual Parish Meeting

All Parish and Town Councils throughout England are required by law to hold an Annual Parish Meeting. This is a meeting of the parish electors and, in Whimple, takes place in April or May. The Chairman, if present, will chair the meeting. The purpose of calling the meeting is so that the Council can explain what it has been doing over the last year. Reports are given by each of the Councillors responsible for particular areas and from those representing outside bodies. Sometimes there is an outside speaker talking on a relevant topic. This meeting is also an opportunity for community groups and electors to share information on activities and items which they consider are important to the people of Whimple. Anyone may attend the meeting but only registered electors of Whimple may speak or ask questions of the Council. An elector may also make suggestions and comment on anything pertinent to the Parish of Whimple.
